My wife read me something this morning before church, it was a message from a Christian who had an unsaved friend. She asked her friend if they go to church and her friend went on to tell her their experience of going to a large church, and being disappointed.
They thought the songs and message were not sincere, and no one in the church took the time to discuss salvation with them, or talk to them for that matter. This comes after I just posted the “Invitation” post, which discussed this issue. I will not repeat the content in that post, but I discussed how it seems we are more concerned with the internal church, instead of following the Great Commission and bringing sinners into the church, to receive salvation from our Lord and Saviour and training them in the paths that they should go in their lives.
Based on reading all the information on this topic this week, I feel the Holy Spirit is guiding me to write about it. Something I have learned over the years is that we need to just stop, take a breath, and then examine the things we are doing in life, work, family, and church.
We need to determine, are the actions we are taking working, are they making a difference and are we in God’s will for our lives. My thought for this week would be, have you done this lately, if not please take time to do it this week, as I will again myself.
As a Christian your personal responsibility is to seek lost sinners to be saved from hell and damnation, and then train them, how they should live their lives for Christ. I have detailed this in my posts “To be like Christ” and “Christian”.
As a church body our commission is the same, we also should be helping each other with our walk. This includes encouraging, showing compassion, supporting a brother or sister through the hard times, and admonishing our brothers and sisters.
I hope this is a blessing to you this week and I will end with this verse: “Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost. 14 And I myself also am persuaded of you, my brethren, that ye also are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish one another.” (Romans 15:13-14).
In Christ,
